📸 „I fail – and that’s okay.“
About blurry photos, creative frustration & the courage to keep going anyway
You probably know the feeling:
The setting was beautiful, your idea was solid, you put in effort – everything seemed ready for amazing photos. And then? The shots turn out blurry. The lighting feels off. The mood just doesn’t match what you pictured in your head. And you start wondering: “Was that all for nothing?”
Honestly? I’ve been there. More often than I’d like to admit.
And you know what? It’s okay.
Not every shoot turns out perfect. Sometimes it feels like you did everything right – but the result just doesn’t click. Maybe the light was too harsh, your hands a bit shaky, or your mind somewhere else entirely.
But that doesn’t mean it’s time to give up.
💬 My biggest takeaway:
These little “fails” don’t mean I’ve failed – they mean I tried.
That I experimented, explored, and dared to do something new.
And that’s exactly what we should celebrate – not hide.
💛 Not perfect? No problem.
But the reality behind the scenes?
It’s shaky. Sometimes frustrating.
Often chaotic.
And yet (or maybe because of that) — it’s real.
I’ve had shoots where I thought, “This just isn’t working today.”
And then — sometimes days later, while reviewing or editing — I’d find a few shots that surprised me. Not perfect. But honest. And full of soul.

What I’ve learned from my “blurry moments”:
🫧 Perfect isn’t the goal.
“Good enough” can be wonderful – especially for your mental well-being.
🤝 Mistakes make you human.
They make you relatable. And likable. After all, who really wants nothing but polished facades?
🛠️ Sticking with it beats giving up.
A blurry photo isn’t a failure – it’s a brave step forward.
✨ Mini Tips to Avoid Blurry Photos
A little bit of technique can go a long way in saving your nerves:
- Take your time.
Take a deep breath, check your position, set your focus. No need to rush. - Use a tripod.
Especially in low light or when you’re shooting solo — it’s pure gold. - Use the self-timer.
Let the camera do the work — no shaky hands involved. - Only shoot when the vibe feels right.
Creativity can’t be forced. If it’s not flowing — take a break. - Don’t delete “imperfect” shots right away.
Sometimes a so-called fail becomes a favorite later.
(Fun fact: Some of my most popular shots were spontaneous snapshots!) - Don’t underestimate editing.
Overexposure can often be fixed. Motion blur is trickier —
but sometimes that blur creates something unexpectedly beautiful.

Hall of Shame!

I take several shots of each pose just to be safe — and still, plenty of blurry ones get tossed after every session.

Out-of-focus pics? Oh yes, they happen every time! But with a little patience, things usually turn out just fine.

Some lighting situations are tricky (or sometimes, I just get in my own way – like I did here 😅). But I still managed to get some shots I really love!

Just a casual snap session in the living room — super quick, no big setup. Honestly? I didn’t think much of it at first. But your kind feedback really made my day! 🥹✨

What’s up with this outfit? 😂 This was a total “desperation outfit” — nothing fit right, and it was a struggle from every angle. But hey, with the right cut and some clever poses, a few cool shots still made the cut!

Just keep going and keep shooting! It would’ve been such a bummer if I only had the “wrapped up” shots. Glad I didn’t give up!

Outdoor photoshoots aren’t really my thing. I had to do a lot of editing on this one! But I really love the final result.
Fun fact:
The famous photography effect “lens flare” — now often intentionally used — used to be a hated mistake photographers tried hard to avoid. Nowadays? It’s added on purpose, even in CGI, to make things look more “real.”
✨ In the end:
Making mistakes doesn’t mean you’ve failed.
It just means you had the courage to try.
And that’s worth so much more than doing nothing out of fear it might not work.
